Make city safe for women, says Jang

Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung called upon the citizens of Delhi to make the city friendly and secure for women with ‘deep sensitisation’ within families.

Addressing the gathering at Chhatrasal Stadium after unfurling the tricolour at the Republic Day celebrations, organised by the Delhi Government, on Sunday, he earmarked the priorities of the State government.

Mr. Jung was given a guard of honour by the contingents of Delhi Police, Civil Defence, Delhi Fire Service and NCC. Children from various schools also participated in the celebration.

Mr. Jung said that providing shelter for the homeless was the top priority of the government.

Mr. Jung asked those present to reflect upon and pay tribute to those who contributed to the cause of building the nation. Speaking about the efforts of the government in making Delhi a world class city, he stressed on the challenge of developing the city with a focus on healthy living. He said that the green cover had increased steadily and that about 20 per cent of the area was under green cover which helped in keeping a check on air pollution.
