Two days after a 40-year-old courier company owner was bludgeoned to death below his office in Connaught Place, the main accused was arrested in East Delhi on Thursday, the police said.

Sources said the murderous assault on Biju Verghese was led by Sunny Saiman (27), when the former objected to his urinating below his office at the Shankar Market.

“Saiman was apprehended at the Surajmal Park area near Vivek Vihar. He has confessed to his involvement in the murder,” said Ajay Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East). A source said Saiman was among a group of four – with the others being identified as Satish, Saurav and Babu – who were drinking below Verghese’s office when the latter stepped down to return to his residence. “Saiman was urinating, which triggered a confrontation between the two, following which the others joined him in killing him,” a senior police officer said.
