Light rain likely in NCR today, says Met Dept

Hailstorm expected on Thursday

The Meteorological Department on Sunday said another wet spell along with hailstorm over the Western Himalayan region and plains of North-West India is expected and will last till Thursday.

“Hailstorm, lightning and gusty wind at isolated places would occur over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi and north Rajasthan on Wednesday and Thursday,” it said.

The weather report for NCR forecast generally cloudy sky with possibility of very light rain towards afternoon/evening on Monday, generally cloudy sky with possibility of thundery development on Tuesday and generally cloudy sky with rain/thundershowers on Wednesday.

“Generally cloudy sky with rain/thundershowers accompanied with hailstorm at isolated pockets on Thursday,” reads the extended forecast.

The Met Department added that light/moderate isolated to scattered rainfall would occur over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, north Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh during the period.

“In quick succession, two western disturbances will affect North-West India from Sunday to Thursday. Under its influence, an induced-cyclonic circulation would form over west Rajasthan and neighbouring States by Monday bringing strong wind convergence,” it said.
