Seven key members of two inter-State narcotics cartels, possessing ₹60 crore worth heroin, were arrested on Monday.
The police received information regarding various drug modules supplying high-grade heroin procured from Jharkhand.
DCP (Special Cell) Rajiv Ranjan Singh said the police received a tip-off on March 31 after which they laid a trap to nab the accused. The police recovered 2,505 kg of fine quality heroin from the two accused - Firoz Alam and Rana Singh. An FIR was registered on April 1.
During investigation, the other two accomplices - Satish Kumar and Teeka Ram - were also arrested with 550 g of heroin.
In yet another drug cartel arrest, the police raided Sunder Nagari area after receiving information on April 4. The accused, Imran Ali and Jahir Bax, were arrested with 8 kg of heroin, the police said. During probe, the accused revealed the name of their accomplice - Hanif Ansari who was later arrested from Bareilly railway station with 2 kg of drugs.
Three cars that were used to transport the contraband, mobile phones and SIM cards have also been recovered, the police said.
