Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal pulled up officials of the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) for not responding to the allegation by the Opposition that 44 homeless people had died due to the cold in January.

“Media reporting 44 deaths of homeless due to cold. Am issuing show cause notice to CEO, DUSIB. Negligible deaths last year. This year, L-G appointed a useless officer. L-G refuses to consult us before appointing officers. How do we run govt like this?,” he tweeted.

DUSIB CEO Shurvir Singh said he had not received any communication as of 6.30 p.m. and that he would respond if asked.

Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari alleged that the Delhi government was totally insensitive towards the deaths of the homeless in Delhi due to cold. The MP appealed to Mr. Kejriwal to “work with sensitivity on the homeless issue”.
