The Juvenile Justice Board here on Wednesday freed two juveniles, who were found in conflict with law in the Nido Tania death case of 2014, on one-year of probation.
The Board also imposed a fine of Rs.10,000 on each juvenile. It convicted them for culpable homicide not amounting to murder charge, said Vishesh Raghav, counsel for one of the juveniles.
Tania, son of an Arunachal Pradesh MLA, had allegedly been thrashed by some shopkeepers in the Lajpat Nagar market in South Delhi when he allegedly retaliated on being mocked about his hair style. He had later succumbed to injuries at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
The case against the other four accused in the case is going on in the Saket district courts. The court is at present recording evidence. The police had initially registered a murder case but it later chargesheeted the accused for the offence of culpable homicide not amounting to murder (304 Part-II) of the Indian Penal Code. It provides for 10 years of imprisonment in case of conviction.
