Four days after a scrap dealer was allegedly shot dead and four women from his family gangraped in Jewar, the 65-year-old mother of the deceased suffered a heart attack on Monday evening, claimed the family.

Chest pain complaint

The mother, who has no previous medical history, was fine through the day but complained of chest pain in the evening.

“She suffered a heart attack around 5.30 p.m., after which she was taken to a hospital in Bulandshahr,” said a 40-year-old relative.

When The Hindu spoke to the relative at 8 p.m., he said she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit. He said the woman was upset over incidents that have taken place over the past few days.

Police not informed

When the police came to know about her condition, the family claimed, they said they should have been informed so they could’ve taken her to a better facility. The police said they didn’t have too much information about the senior citizen’s condition.

The relative added that members of the Bhartiya Kisan Union staged a dharna on Monday and carried out a procession from the victims’ home to the district police station demanding that the case be closed soon.

Referring to the preliminary medical reports of the gang-rape victims, which stated that they didn’t show signs of rape, the protesters said, “Don’t manipulate medical reports”.

Fresh medical test

Meanwhile, a delegation of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) on Monday demanded fresh medical test of the gangraped women.
