Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Friday recorded his evidence in two defamation cases filed by him against suspended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Kapil Mishra and BJP MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa.
Mr. Jain recorded his evidence before Metropolitan Magistrate Shefali Barnala Tandon. The Magistrate posted the matter on August 23 for arguments on the two cases.
The court had in May taken cognisance of the two cases and asked Mr. Jain to lead pre-summoning evidence.
‘Baseless accusations’
In his complaint against Mr. Mishra, the Minister said that the rebel MLA — in a media statement on May 7 — had accused him of paying a bribe of ₹2 crore to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Mr. Jain added that instead of approaching a probe agency, Mr. Mishra had used his official Twitter handle to defame him.
As regards to Mr. Sirsa, Mr. Jain said in his complaint that the MLA on May 9 had made a libellous statement by levelling corruption charges against him.
The Minster alleged that the BJP MLA had accused him of circulating huge amounts of illegitimate money within the AAP. Mr. Jain said that the allegations were based on hearsay without any proof.
