IIT-Delhi to hold third edition of Industry Day

‘Programme will promote power of industry-academia collaboration’

Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, will be organising the third edition of Industry Day on September 21. The event is to spread awareness in the industry about the various research projects being conducted at the institute and build a close rapport between faculty, students and investors.

“It is the flagship event of the institute that aims to harness and promote the power of industry-academia collaboration, kindle ideas for cogent partnerships and showcase cutting edge research by the IIT Delhi researchers. NITI Aayog member V.K. Paul will be the chief guest at the event,” the institute said on Wednesday.

Over 200 product prototypes and posters by researchers will be on display and the institute is expecting over 500 participants from the industry to be present on campus.

Five themes

The five themes for the event are clean energy for sustainable economy and environment, sustainable medical technologies, emerging nano and advanced materials, sustainable environment and Make in India, the institute said.

IIT, Delhi director V. Ramgopal Rao said that industry-driven research will also focus on creating jobs for our youth, and achieve our ambition of $5 trillion Indian economy. “Over the past few years, research at IIT, Delhi has moved towards solving problems that are face by society. We believe that since we are a public-funded institute, our aim should be to do research that benefits the public,” he said. He added that visitors to the campus will also be encouraged to hire some of the institute’s PhD students to conduct specific research.

Corporate Relations Dean Anurag S. Rathore said that some of the key products on display will include a diagnostic tool for detecting cancerous tissues, Flexmo crutch to assist the specially abled, water activated powerless heating system, bioresorbable cardiac stent, scrambled egg based on plant protein, which has the potential to address protein deficiency nutrition among large population and research work being done on personal body armour.
