Courting Poorvanchali voters in the Capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday said if Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to power after the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the unauthorised colonies where a large number of those from the community stay would face demolition.

Multi-crore projects

Speaking at an event to lay the foundation stone for projects worth ₹86.47 crore in 13 unauthorised colonies in Nangloi, Mr. Kejriwal said the BJP was opposed to unauthorised colonies and the Poorvanchalis who live in them as they think “they make Delhi dirty”.

The Chief Minister said that the Election Commission had “deleted 30 lakh voters, of which 15 lakh were people from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar”. He said he would “have the 30 lakh names back on the electoral rolls in a month or month-and-a-half”.
