Amid a row over appointment of Acting Chief Secretary, Lt Governor Najeeb Jung has briefed the Home Ministry, which is directly responsible for the Capital's administration, even as Union Home Secretary L C Goyal said his ministry has nothing to do with the issue.

Official sources said the L-G has informally briefed the Home Ministry about the situation arising out of Ms. Gamlin’s appointment. The Ministry, sources said, advised Mr. Jung to act as per the Constitution.

“The Home Ministry has nothing to do with it. The Lieutenant Governor and the Chief Minister are competent enough to handle the situation,” Union Home Secretary L .C. Goyal told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.— PTI
