Hindu College stopped just short of asking for perfect score for students seeking admission to B.A. (Honours) political science with the first cut-off, released on Thursday, calling for 99%. Last year, eligibility for the same course was pegged at 96.75%.
The highest cut-off last year was 98.75% for B.A. (Programme) at Lady Shri Ram College. At LSR this year, the highest cut-off is for B.A. psychology 98.7%. Among other women’s colleges, the highest cut-off at Miranda House, ranked number one in the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF), is for B.A. (Honours) economics and B.A. (Honours) geography with 98.25%. At Maitreyi College, the highest cut-off is for B.A. (Honours) economics and B.A. (Honours) English at 96%.
The most applied for course — B.A. (Honours) English — to which up to 1,42,970 applications were received found the highest cut-off at Lady Shri Ram College at 97.75%. The cut-off for the same course last year was 98%.
The highest cut-off for both B.A. economics (Honours) and B.Com (Honours) are at Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) with 98.75% and 98.50% respectively, an increase of 1% and 0.75%.
Among the science courses, the cut-off for B.Sc physics was 98.33% while B.Sc computer science at Dayal Singh was 98%. B.Sc statistics at Hindu College was 97.75%. Most of the cut-offs in science courses saw a marginal increase while compared to last year.
This year the number of seats also increased from about 56,000 in 2018 to close to 63,000. The expansion took place in order to account for the 10% reservation mandated for students from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS).
Students who have cleared the cut-offs for the courses of their choice will have to download the application form for the particular course from the online portal. Following this, they will have to visit the college to have their documents verified and receive approval from the principal. Candidates are required to complete this by July 1.
Second list on July 4
All students who have cleared the cut-offs are eligible for admission in the college. However, those who come after the last date won’t be entertained.
Once the approval has been received, a payment gateway will be made available on the candidate’s portal on the DU website. Students have been advised to make the payment within 24 hours of receiving the approval. The next list will be released on July 4.
According to DU Registrar, those who meet the requirements notified in the first cut-off list are advised to complete the admission formalities in the colleges concerned within the stipulated time as notified on the university website.
