HC seeks status report on RTR flyover project

May 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Delhi High Court has directed the Delhi Government, Delhi Development Authority and the traffic police to submit a status report on a three-lane flyover being constructed parallel to an existing flyover at Rao Tula Ram Marg on Outer Ring Road here.

A Division Bench, hearing a writ petition moved by the residents of Vasant Vihar, also sought to know from the authorities the progress on evolving functional alternative routes for diversion of traffic during the flyover’s construction.

The Bench, comprising Justice B.D. Ahmed and Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, clarified that the work on the flyover would not be allowed to proceed if the traffic to and from the airport was not de-congested during the construction work.

The residents’ welfare associations of Vasant Vihar have moved the Court challenging the Public Works Department’s decision to build a new three-lane flyover at RTR Marg and have sought construction of a six-lane flyover at the same location after demolition of the existing one.
