HC seeks reply from cops on encounter

June 30, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:35 am IST - New Delhi:

The Delhi High Court on Monday sought the city police’s response on a plea seeking Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the encounter killing of Manoj Vashishth at a restaurant here on May 16.

Justice Ashutosh Kumar issued notices to the Centre and Delhi Police while seeking their responses on the plea of Vashisth’s wife Priyanka for a CBI probe into the alleged killing.

The matter has been listed for further hearing on July 13 and Delhi Police asked to submit its status report that day. A special investigation team (SIT) constituted by Delhi Police is slated to give its report by June 30.

The SIT was constituted after Vashisth’s family alleged he was killed in “cold blood” in a “staged encounter” at Sagar Ratna in New Rajinder Nagar. — PTI
