HC dismisses petition on new Bollywood song

May 21, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Remarking that there were too many similar matters coming up before it, the High Court on Wednesday swiftly dismissed a public interest litigation alleging that a Bollywood song be banned because it was maligning a nursery rhyme and promoting alcohol. This particular song, “ Lalla lalla lori, daru ki katori,” is from the movie, “Welcome 2 Karachi,” with actor Arshad Warsi in the lead.

“This court is already seized with similar issues. It is not necessary to multiply the issue. The court has already taken cognisance of the issue raised in this writ petition, so it is not necessary to entertain the same,” said the court of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice R.S Endlaw, while refusing to entertain the petition filed by an NGO.

The songs, “ Chaar botal vodka ,” and “ Mai alcoholic hoon,” is already the subject of a PIL in the same court which was sought to be banned for promoting alcohol and drunkenness.
