Changes to the layout plan of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg, dealing with the land on which the BJP’s national HQ is built, were approved by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee on Wednesday.

The proposal also states that the Central Public Works Department recommended that the location, plot and other aspects of the area allotted to the BJP will remain the same as the existing layout plan, and only the building plan will be scrutinised by the corporation.

The layout plan of the road has been changed on three occasions since it was first approved by the DDA in 2004. The current proposal envisages 21 modifications to the layout plan, which deal with 8,860 sq metres of land allotted to the BJP.

Among other modifications, it includes the change in land-use of the area from “residential to public and semi-public facility”.

The area was found to be bounded with a temporary wall with construction under way, the proposal states.

The total land of DDU Marg layout plan measures 130.3 acres and is owned by the government.
