Govt. school teacher held for helping students cheat

A teacher with a government school in Model Town was arrested while cases were registered against four others for accepting bribe to allow students to cheat in the Class XII final examination.

The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) has registered cases under the prevention of corruption Act against the teachers who were caught red-handed on Tuesday.

“The ACB raid followed a complaint on the anti-corruption helpline 1031 that some teachers of the Government Sarvodya Bal Vidyalaya, Rana Pratap Bagh (Model Town), were allowing and encouraging students of Class XI and XII to cheat in their final examination of the ‘open school’ after accepting bribe,” an official statement said.

According to the statement, the callers were advised to lay a trap. The ACB team fixed a time for the raid during the Class XII Chemistry final exam on Tuesday.

“A trap was laid and it was found that the teachers were accepting bribe at varying rates from Rs. 20,000 from each student,” the statement said.
