‘Govt ignoring air pollution’

Accusing it of ‘neglecting the problem of pollution’ and playing with the health of Delhiites, the city unit of the BJP on Friday attacked the Aam Aadmi Party government for ‘running away from its responsibility’.

Citing an assessment by the Indian Council of Medical Research, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari said that the ‘disturbing’ report had ‘shamed Delhi’.

Demanding an all-party meeting, Mr. Tiwari said: “Pollution is continuously increasing and people have no option but to breathe toxic air. The number of people suffering from asthma and heart attack has increased by 30%... The polluted air... damages lungs... affects mind of people.”

“These days there are neither firecrackers nor stubble burning... but pollution is getting worse. This shows that the Delhi government is not taking action to control pollution... but is only accusing other States and farmers for it... there should be no politics on the issue of pollution,” said Mr. Tiwari.
