The Delhi government has banned the entry of heavy and medium goods carriers in the Capital to keep the emission of fuel-related effluents at bay. The ban came in force at 11 p.m. on Thursday and would remain till 11 p.m. on November 11.

The government’s Transport Department, in a first, also appealed to the owners and drivers of diesel vehicles not to use these over the said three-day period.

“The notification has been issued to comply with the direction of EPCA dated 6-11-2018 on the same subject. The traffic police and civic bodies have been directed to enforce the ban order on goods vehicles,” the Department said, adding that vehicle owners and drivers have been requested not to park their vehicles at borders causing congestion while those destined for other States were requested to use alternative routes, it added.
