A Delhi girl has alleged that she was trafficked to Jaipur and raped by around a dozen men for over 24 hours before she managed to escape.
So far, Delhi Police have arrested six persons in this connection, including a couple accused of tricking her into accompanying them to Jaipur and the manager of the hotel where she was allegedly raped.
The 17-year-old is a resident of Mangolpuri in north-west Delhi. Since her father is unemployed, she was looking for a job. She recently met a couple in her locality who promised to get her a well-paying job in Jaipur, the teenager stated in her complaint.
She was lodged at Hotel Indraprastha, located near Sindhi Camp bus stand in Jaipur, on the night of August 29. “She was told that she would be interviewed in the hotel room the next day. Instead, hotel manager Mukesh and his associates raped her that night,” said a senior police officer.
More men visited the room the next day and took turns to rape her. The police are yet to ascertain the exact number of men who raped her.
“At one point, she said there were 11 men. Another time she counted 13 of them. She says there were occasions when she was in a semi-conscious state, because of which she could not clearly recollect all of them,” said the officer.
She finally managed to escape on August 31 and reach Delhi by bus. “She climbed into an adjacent room through an opening in her room and then walked out of the hotel undetected,” said Vikramjit Singh, DCP (Outer), quoting the girl’s complaint.
In Delhi, she approached the Mangolpuri police station, where the police registered a case of rape, selling minors for prostitution and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO). She was sent for medical examination, which indicated rape.
A police team was immediately dispatched to nab the couple, identified as Rocky and Rina. They are learnt to have been actively involved in trafficking Delhi women for prostitution and were in the process of selling this girl.
They led the police to the hotel in Jaipur where the incident had taken place. Mukesh was nabbed and three others were held at his instance.
The police said they are scanning the CCTV footage of nearby areas to identify the other accused. Delhi Police officers said they have heard of raids being conducted in Indraprastha Hotel on suspicion of it being used for running prostitution rackets.
