Ghaziabad, Noida petrol pumps gain

The strike by petrol pumps in the Capital led to a surge in fuel sale in Noida and Ghaziabad. Fuel pumps near border areas said their sales doubled.

Meanwhile, those using app-based platforms like Ola and Uber, the strike by drivers had a spillover effect in Noida with cab rates shooting during the peak hours. With CNG stations open in Noida, many drivers from Delhi came to Uttar Pradesh to fill fuel.

“We had sold 50% of oil of total capacity by afternoon. We have never witnessed such huge crowds at our place,” said another petrol pump manager in Indirapuram in Ghaziabad.

Bigger consumers like transporters and contract bus service operators in Delhi or adjoining cities are abandoning Delhi to purchase fuel from these cities. This is leading to a massive loss of income for Delhi-based fuel stations.
