Gang-rape accused refuses identification parade

December 25, 2012 11:15 am | Updated June 15, 2016 10:26 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Delhi Police on Monday said the charge-sheet against all six persons accused of brutally raping a 23-year-old girl in a moving bus on December 16 will be filed within seven days.

According to a police official, Rahul (name changed), the juvenile accused in the case, who had earlier agreed for a Test Identification Parade (TIP), has refused to be part of the process. He is the fourth to refuse a TIP after similar refusals from Ram Singh, Pawan and Vinay — three other accused — in a city court on Sunday.

The TIP of another accused Akshay will take place on Wednesday. Ram Singh’s brother Mukesh who had consented to the exercise was identified last week during a TIP in Tihar Jail by the victim’s male friend, who was in the bus along with her at the time of the incident. Following the TIP, Mukesh was taken into police custody and will be produced in a court later this week.

Mukesh was allegedly driving the bus in which the victims were brutally assaulted before being thrown out.

It is learnt that Rahul was beaten up by other juveniles inside a juvenile home in Outer Delhi and shifted to another juvenile home in Majnu ka Tila here. Rahul, who was arrested at Anand Vihar on Friday, was sent to the juvenile home by a juvenile justice board.
