A day after a 35-year-old woman was allegedly abducted and gangraped in a moving car, the Greater Noida police detained the auto-rickshaw driver who had dropped the victim to M.G road in Gurugram. The police have, however, not made any arrests in the case so far.

Abducted by 3 men

The victim was allegedly gangraped in a moving car by three men after being abducted from Haryana’s Gurugram on Monday night and dumped in Greater Noida’s Kasna on Tuesday morning. She has recorded her statement with the Noida police, officials said on Tuesday.

The auto-rickshaw driver was detained late on Tuesday. A senior police officer, on the condition of anonymity, said the victim had boarded the auto-rickshaw from Erdi Road in Sohna for M.G road. The driver had dropped her off and had reportedly introduced her to the three men travelling in the car. The police are questioning him to get details about the absconding accused.

Raids conducted

The police sources said some raids were conducted in Delhi-NCR to nab the culprits. “So far, we have not arrested the accused. We are expecting to arrest them soon. Our teams are working on the case day and night to nab the culprits. We are probing the case from all angles,” the official added.

The matter came to light when the police control room received a call around 4 a.m. on Tuesday about a woman lying unattended near a restaurant in Kasna police station area. She has now been admitted to Yatharth Hospital.

Meanwhile, some bottles of beer were also noticed at the spot where the victim was thrown out, leading the police to suspect the accused may have been inebriated at the time. The woman, a resident of Bharatpur in Rajasthan, had come to meet a relative in Sohna last week. An FIR was lodged in Kasna police station as Gurugram police refused to lodge an FIR into the matter.
