Four held after exchange of fire with policemen

Four persons were arrested for their alleged involvement in a burglary after a shootout in east Delhi’s Pandav Nagar, the police said on Friday.

DCP (South) Atul Thakur said the accused have been identified as Sheikh Saifuddin, Wasim Akram, Mumtaz, and Anwar. “An information was received that the accused, involved in a burglary reported from Saket, would come to Mayur Vihar after which a trap was laid,” he said. On seeing the policemen, one of the accused fired a shot at them, said an officer. In retaliation, the team also fired a shot that hit the accused’s vehicle.

Soon, the accused were overpowered, the officer said.
