Several rounds were fired and vehicles were damaged outside AAP councillor Jitendra Kumar’s house in Sangam Vihar on Thursday evening. The police said the incident happened following an argument between the councillor’s neighbour and a man over public urination.

Additional DCP (South) Vijayanta Arya said, on Wednesday night, accused Amit came to meet his friend Ravinder who lives in the same locality as Mr. Kumar and his brother Bhupinder. “When Amit was leaving, he had an altercation with one Sunil because he objected to Amit urinating in public. Around 1 a.m., Amit returned with a couple of others to get back at Sunil but was beaten up by locals,” Ms. Arya said. On Thursday evening, Amit allegedly returned with his friends and allegedly opened fire. “They also threw stones to damage windows of Sunil’s and one Vijaypal’s house who was involved in the fight on Wednesday and the adjoining house of Mr. Bhupinder, brother of Mr. Jitendra,” Ms. Arya said.

The police said they have registered an First Information Report into the incident and are looking for the absconding accused.
