A fire broke out in north Delhi’s Kashmere Gate late on Saturday evening. No casualties were reported.

The fire-fighting operation was still on at 10 p.m, nearly two hours after the blaze started.

Two shops gutted

The fire broke out at Ritz Guest House and engulfed at least two more shops.

According to a fire department official, shop number 1525 and 1526 had been gutted. As many as 25 fire tenders were rushed to the spot.

“There was a short-circuit in one shop, which may have triggered the blaze. The cooling operation will take time because these shops had car filters, which take time to extinguish once on fire,” said a senior Delhi Police officer.
