Fire at Chandi Chowk guts property worth ₹1 crore

At least 60 shops and property estimated to be worth around ₹1 crore were gutted a when a major fire broke out in Chandni Chowk's Katra Dhulia market on Monday night.

No casualties were reported.

According to Delhi Fire Services, a call was received about the fire at 9.30 p.m. after which 29 firetenders were rushed to the spot.

A dramatic scene was also witnessed when local MLA Alka Lamba reached the spot during firefighting and climbed atop a hydraulic lift fuelling anger among those present, who accused her of hampering the firefighting operations.

The cause of fire is suspected to be a short-circuit.
