Bhim Sena chief Chandrasekhar Ravan and his supporters were booked for allegedly assaulting camerapersons during a marriage function in Sahibabad on Thursday night.

Mr. Ravan was a guest at the event. The complainant, Dharmender Kumar, from Ghaziabad, is a cameraperson with a private news channel, the police said.

Carrying weapons

Mr. Kumar said that Mr. Ravan and his supporters were carrying weapons.

He added that during the event, media persons questioned them as to why were they armed.

This annoyed Mr. Ravan and his supporters, after which they abused, thrashed and threatened the victim, the police said.

Based on the complaint, a first information report has been registered against Mr. Ravan and others.

A team has been formed to look into the matter, an officer said, adding that the accused would be asked to join the investigation.
