A 45-year-old man allegedly strangulated his eight-year-old son in Dwarka’s Baba Haridas Nagar on Friday morning, the police said on Saturday. The accused is on the run, they said.
The matter was reported to the police by the victim’s mother who saw her husband right after he had allegedly killed their son. “The accused, a vegetable vendor, strangulated his son with a rope and then with a piece of cloth. The mother had gone to a neighbour’s house and when she returned, she saw the accused with the son’s body. He immediately fled,” said a senior police officer.
The mother said that the accused was in heavy debt, and alleged that he often blamed the boy for his crisis. A murder case has been registered and teams are looking for the absconding accused, the police said.
