A man was killed and seven others of his family were injured when their car overturned following a tyre burst on Yamuna Expressway on Monday, the police said.

Jagpal Singh (35) from Jattari village in Aligarh was returning home from a relative’s residence in Ghaziabad when the incident happened. Eight people, including four children, and two women were in the car.

After the vehicle’s tyre burst, Singh lost control of the car and rammed a divider. The vehicle flipped multiple times.

“A passer-by informed the police about the accident, after which a PCR van reached the spot and rushed the injured to Kailash Hospital in Kasna. Singh was declared brought dead. Another injured person, identified as Anuj Singh, is under observation. The others, including children and women, were discharged after first aid,” said Dankaur Station House Officer Rajpal Singh Tomar. “We have not registered a case in the incident since there was no complaint,” said Mr. Tomar.
