NSUI activists protest demanding action against the students’ union president on Wednesday.

The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) on Wednesday organised a protest against the Delhi University administration and the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) demanding action against Delhi University Students’ Union president Ankiv Baisoya for allegedly furnishing a fake degree to gain admission in DU.

Stringent action

The NSUI demanded that stringent measures must be taken to resolve the issue with the revocation of the DUSU president’s admission as well as his candidature. The NSUI said, “We demand that since the authorities as well as thousands of students have been deceived, legal action must also be taken against ABVP presidential candidate under Sections 198, 420, 465, 468, 471 read with 120-B of the IPC to ensure proper delivery of justice.”

It submitted complaints to the Vice-Chancellor as well as the city Police.

NSUI national president Fairoz Khan said, “The way the ABVP has tried to capture DUSU by tampering the EVM, the way DU administration and the BJP government has interfered in students’ democracy is condemnable. According to the guidelines of Lyngdoh Committee, the NSUI demands re-elections in DU with ballot paper.”

He also demanded the announcement of new election dates and immediate removal of Mr. Baisoya from DUSU and his arrest for forging documents.
