Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday asked school students to become brand ambassadors for menstrual hygiene to eradicate the “shame and silence about periods”.
He flagged off an initiative — Pad Yatra — on Menstrual Hygiene Day [February 5] at Connaught Place.
The rally was followed by a “Period Fest”, which was attended by a large number of students and teachers from over 60 schools in the Capital. The participants went around busy marketplaces, holding placards with slogans to encourage people to talk about menstrual hygiene. Visitors to the festival not only learnt about different period management options but also how to consult doctors from Delhi Medical Association about woman’s health, sexual and reproductive health.
Experts also answered queries related to Polycystic Ovarian Disease. Students contributed to spreading awareness by painting and organising skits.
