Victim says he forcibly got her pregnancy terminated

A mechanical engineer was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly raping a woman on the pretext of marriage in south-west Delhi’s Kishangarh, the police said.

The 33-year-old woman, an MBA graduate, who used to work with a private firm till six months ago, approached the police on Tuesday.

The victim said she had met one Sanjay Kumar through a matrimonial website a few years ago and the two started living in together in Munirka.

“The woman alleged that Sanjay [35] was married when the two met and got divorced in December 2018. When she asked to marry him, he asked her for money and denied the proposal,” the officer said, adding that two had been living in together since 2016.

The victim also alleged that she recently got pregnant but the accused forcibly got the pregnancy terminated 10 days ago.

Based on the woman’s complaint, a case on charges of rape was registered and the accused was arrested, the police said.
