Elderly man bludgeoned to death, 1 held

An argument broke between them over some petty issue: police

A 62-year-old man was bludgeoned to death allegedly by a fellow worker following a drunken argument in Mandir Marg on Monday evening, the police said on Wednesday. The accused has been arrested, they said.

The police said that the victim has been identified as Jeevan and the accused as Mohammed Zakir. Both, of them worked in a tent house shop in Gol Market.

The police control room received a call around 8.15 p.m. regarding a murder after which they reached the spot and found the victim lying on the footpath with an injury on the head. The victim was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital where he succumbed to injuries on Tuesday.

During investigation, it was revealed that Jeevan and Zakir were drinking, when an argument broke out between the two over some petty issue. The accused then hit the victim on the head multiple times with a brick.
