DUTA opposes funds freeze

The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) on Wednesday raised objections to a “threatening letter from the Delhi government to stop funds”.

In a letter dated April 16, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia directed that no funds be released to the 28 colleges in DU, which had not constituted governing bodies. These colleges are either fully or partially funded by the Delhi government.

The DUTA said that it found it “unacceptable that employees at these colleges would be held to ransom because of the impasse created by DU and the government.”

The DUTA has demanded immediate withdrawal of the letter and demanded that DU constitute all governing bodies.
