A 35-year-old man set his motorcycle on fire after it was towed and he was fined for allegedly parking at a non-parking zone in south Delhi’s Saket on Thursday, the police said.

DCP (South) Atul Kumar Thakur said Mukesh Kumar from Satbadi, who was under the influence of alcohol at the time, has been arrested. An assistant sub-inspector found Mukesh’s two-wheeler at a no-parking zone in Khoka Market and towed it away to a temporary holding place in Pushp Vihar. The officer slapped a fine of ₹500 on the offender.

“Mukesh started misbehaving with the officers. After an argument, he set the vehicle on fire,” Mr. Thakur said. A case under relevant sections has been registered, the officer said. The accused said he was upset because his wife had not come home from her parents’ house after Diwali.
