Donate to AIIMS for 100 pc I-T deduction

Giving the public an opportunity to ensure that the poorest of the poor get access to world-class medical treatment the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has been notified as an institute of national eminence by the Income Tax Authority, which functions under the Finance Department (Ministry of Finance).

“After this notification certificate, those who will donate fund to AIIMS, New Delhi, will now get 100 per cent income tax deduction of donated amount from their taxable income u/s 80G (2) (a) (iif) of the Income Tax Act, 1961,” said a release issued by AIIMS on Monday.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley handed over the notification certificate to the Director of the institute on Sunday, when the AIIMS had organised its 43rd convocation.

During his address, Mr. Jaitley Jaitley recognised the national importance of AIIMS. “This notification will not only help attract more philanthropic funds for patient care services, but also promote this national institute of excellence in the area of medical education and research in the country,” said AIIMS spokesperson, Dr. Amit Gupta.
