Doctor arrested for molesting student

Victim was studying at coaching centre

A 49-year-old doctor was arrested for allegedly molesting a 19-year-old student who he taught at a private coaching centre in Narela, the police said on Saturday.

The accused identified as Dr. Mohd Iqbal Shah, a resident of Narela, was arrested on Friday for allegedly attempting to molest the girl on October 4. The girl was preparing for a General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) course.

False promise

On the day of the incident, the complainant told the police that Dr. Iqbal sent all the students out of the class. “He told her that he would get her admitted to a good college and then attempted to molest her. He also caught her hand. However, the girl managed to escape. She came home and told her parents about the incident,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Rishi Pal.

The police said that the doctor is also running an institute called Doctors Poly Clinic from a rented premises in Narela. “He has been sent to judicial custody. Further investigation is under way,” said Mr. Pal.
