The Delhi-Noida Direct (DND) flyway, which connects Uttar Pradesh to the Capital, was briefly shut on Friday due to a farmers’ rally.
The flyover opened a few hours later and traffic was normalised by evening, an official said.
Vehicular movement on the crucial route had come to a crawl, with several commuters sharing their agony on social media. “Coming back to Delhi from Noida? Avoid roads. Take the metro. The traffic is insane. 2 hours for a 35 min route. And I have still not reached [sic.],” one Twitter user said.
Tractors and trolleys
The rally, organised by Kisan Uday Abhiyan, was stopped at the DND flyover since they came with tractors and trolleys, which is not allowed inside the city, said a senior officer.
