Wondering what to do with your old gadgets like mobile phones, laptops or those old generation computers? If selling is not an option you can recycle them in an eco-friendly manner with the help of Chintan, a non-profit organisation that works for the cause of environment. All you need to do is get your old gadgets to your workplace or your schools/colleges and Chintan will come to collect it from there.
Chintan founder Bharati Chaturvedi said: “We are starting a new e-waste awareness campaign in corporate offices and educational institutions from this week. Through this campaign we aim to create awareness about e-waste and the way in which it is recycled.”
Chintan already has a programme through which they collect old gadgets and send them for e-recycling. They have an e-waste collection helpline which is open to the common people. Whoever wants their stuff to be collected call up the helpline. Volunteers then collect the gadgets. All these electronics are then sent to Chintan e-waste collection centres. From where they are taken to authorised the re-cycling centres.
If someone gives an old gadget to an authorised recycler, there is less possibility that he will accept it for recycling because they do not usually do it for a meagre number. We at Chintan collect the gadgets in bulk and then send it to the recyclers so that the recycling can be done in a proper manner, added she.
