Assistant Professor of Delhi University’s Dyal Singh College has been booked for allegedly making objectionable statement against Hindu goddess Durga on Facebook on September 22 evening.

Offended by the Facebook post by Kedar Kumar Mandal, members of National Democratic Teachers Front (NDTF) submitted their complaint against Mr. Mandal at Lodhi Road police station on September 23 after which an FIR was registered late in the night.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Chinmoy Biswal said, “The complaint was examined and Mr Mandal was booked under section 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, etc.) and 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting religious beliefs). We are looking if sections of IT Act need to be added”.

In their complaint, the NDTF alleged that Mr. Mandal shared the post in 21 different groups.
