Delhiites witnessed the hottest day of the season on Sunday, with the maximum temperature settling at 44.1 degrees Celsius, five notches above normal. The minimum temperature was recorded at 25.3 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal.
Palam weather station recorded a maximum of 45.1 degrees Celsius, the hottest in the city. Weather stations at Lodhi Road and Ridge recorded a maximum temperature of 43.1 and 44.5 degrees Celsius respectively.
The humidity level oscillated between 64% and 13%.
No relief
The temperature has risen after a western disturbance, which caused thunderstorms and squalls, kept the city cool over the past week. Sunday was four degrees warmer than the maximum temperature recorded on Saturday.
The Meteorological Department has forecast the maximum and minimum temperatures to be between 44 degrees and 26 degrees on Monday with heatwave conditions at a few places.
