Jammu and Kashmir will soon be receiving help from Delhi’s municipal corporations, which announced on Tuesday that they will contribute to the Prime Minister’s relief fund as well as send equipment and personnel to deal with the aftermath of the flood.

The Commissioners of the three civic bodies met the Cabinet Secretary and the J&K Resident Commissioner on Sunday and decided to help out with rehabilitation work in the State, that was hit by floods earlier this month.

North Delhi Municipal Corporation Commissioner Pravin Kumar Gupta told the House on Tuesday that 50 fumigation machines to control mosquito breeding along with their operators were ready to be sent. South Delhi Municipal Corporation Commissioner Manish Gupta added: “We have also put the fogging machines on standby. They will be sent as soon as there is a need.”

Officials in the North and South civic bodies have decided to donate one day’s salary to the Prime Minister’s relief fund. The East Delhi Municipal Corporation is likely to follow suit. The North Corporation’s contribution will be more than Rs.2.10 crore, said the Commissioner. Apart from that, the North Corporation passed a resolution on Tuesday that all councillors will donate their allowances for the month of August to the PM’s fund.
