Names of former Ministers Manish Sisodia and Rakhi Birla figured in the second list of the 13 candidates announced by the Aam Aadmi Party for the upcoming Delhi elections.

In the list that was announced on Saturday, the party dropped Veena Anand, who represented Patel Nagar seat, and nominated Hazari Lal Chauhan in her place.

The party has now announced candidates for 35 of the 70 Assembly constituencies, which includes three women.

In the first list, the party had announced names of 22 candidates including 12 legislators.

While the first two lists include names of 18 out of 27 party legislators, sources said party “could drop at least one or two more names which is under consideration based on the feedbacks coming from different channels”.

“The political affairs committee decided not to repeat the Patel Nagar legislator based on the feedbacks received from the volunteers, the district committee, the independent observers and the MLA performance report. While we are certain to name new candidates on seats where our legislators have opted not to contest and who are no more in the party, performance of others is also being reviewed,” a senior party leader said.

While Rajesh Garg and Harish Khanna, former AAP MLAs from Rohini and Timarpur respectively, have publicly announced they would not contest on party ticket during the upcoming polls, Jangpura MLA and Vidhan Sabha Speaker recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party.

The party is still to announce names of some of its legislators including Akhilesh Pati Tripathi (Model Town), Dharmendra Koli (Seemapuri), Mahendra Yadav (Vikaspuri) and Ashok Kumar (Ambedkar Nagar).

The party has also not come up with candidate's name for high profile seats like Laxmi Nagar and R. K Puram. While party expelled Laxmi Nagar legislator Vinod Kumr Binny, one of the founder members of AAP Shazia Ilmi had contested from R.K Puram. Ms. Ilmi left the party later and is reportedly all set to join the BJP.

“Barring 2-3 seats, most of the remaining 35 seats are likely to have new faces. Arvind’s name would be declared at last. His name would be proposed by the rest 69 candidates,” a party leader said.
