Defacement of signages a stigma on social fabric: AAP

May 16, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - NEW DELHI:

The Aam Aadmi Party on Friday described the defacement of signages of roads in Delhi named after Muslim personalities, allegedly by some radical elements, as a stigma on the social fabric of the Capital. The Delhi Police has termed it as an act of hooliganism.

“The perpetrators of the crime had the audacity under the Narendra Modi rule to paste their complete details on the signage boards after defacing them. The right wing group which dared to do the horrible act undoubtedly draws its power and strength from the BJP-led coalition in power,” said AAP in a strongly-worded statement.

The AAP pointed out that ever since the BJP came to power at the Centre, several such acts of radical elements hijacking the law and playing moral police had come to light.

“The government at the Centre has played a mute spectator to these groups and their acts of violence and has either not responded or retaliated meekly to these criminal acts.”

The AAP alleged that the lives and properties of minorities and weaker sections of the society were continuously under threat with the Narendra Modi government in power.

AAP demanded that these elements be brought to book. The action against such elements should prove a deterrent for other radical outfits, it said.
