The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Monday extended the deadline for the JNU Entrance Examination (JNUEE) and the Combined Entrance Examination for Biotechnology (CEEB) 2019-20 application registration and submission from April 15 to April 18. The deadline for application fee payment has also been extended from April 16 to April 19.

87,950 forms submitted

“As of today, 87,950 students have submitted their application forms and paid the fees for JNUEE 2019-20. This is a record number of applications that has been received for JNUEE as compared to previous years and still more are expected to apply as the deadline has been extended,” the Director of Admissions, Deepak Gaur, said. He said that the total number of candidates who applied for JNUEE held for the academic years 2017 and 2018 were 51,818 and 69,605 respectively.

The university said that considering a candidate is allowed to apply for up to three programs of study in a single application, the total number of candidates appearing for the entrance test amounts to 1,65,000. “This clearly indicates that the student applicant fraternity has overwhelmingly accepted the proposition of conducting the computer-based test,” the university said.

This is the first year that the JNU has partnered with the National Testing Agency for conducting the computer-based entrance test. The university said that the responsibility of post-examination result processing and result announcement as well as JRF application registration would be conducted by the JNU.

“The vendor for the post exam processing and JRF application registration is a company that has been working every year since 2015 under the supervision of the JNU Admission Branch,” the administration said.
