DDA likely to modify penalty charges

For permitted changed land use

Following concerns raised by several stakeholders, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is considering modifying charges applicable to allowing permitted changed land use.

“We have received several representations urging the DDA to reduce conversion charges, penalty for which was fixed at 1.5 times the one-time conversion charge. The matter is being deliberated upon and a decision will be taken soon,” said a DDA official.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoUHA) had in July notified the one-time conversion charge to be paid under mixed use.

Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly and DDA member Vijender Gupta said, “High penalty discourages property owners on mixed-use streets from getting their property converted. The DDA is likely to reduce penalty charges to one-third of the one time conversion charge. It is going to provide great relief to many shopkeepers seeking regularisation.”
