The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has rescued an alleged victim of domestic violence from Faridabad.

The victim’s father had complained to the DCW that his daughter, who got married two years ago, was being harassed mentally and physically by her husband and in-laws. The couple have 10-month-old twin daughters but one lived with the victim and the other with her mother-in-law.

He also claimed his daughter was held captive in the house and not fed properly. After this complaint, a team of DCW members and the police visited the Faridabad house. They found that she had been forced to consume medicines by her mother-in-law and was constantly beaten by her husband. A complaint was lodged at Bhoopani Chowki, Faridabad, and she was taken to a trauma centre.

The DCW has demanded strict action in the matter.
