The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on Tuesday issued notice to the Delhi Police over the alleged suicide of a teenager inside a police station.

Taking suo-motu cognisance of the matter, the women’s commission issued the notice to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (West).

Action report

“DCW has sought information such as the reasons behind the presence of the girl in the police station, name of the officer responsible for this lapse and action taken against him,” said a DCW official.

CCTV footage sought

The commission has sought the CCTV footage of the police station along with details of officers who were on duty at the time of the incident. It has also asked for details pertaining to the presence of female officers at the time of the incident.

“It has also been reported that the family of the girl has been arrested. Is this true? Please provide details of action taken against them, if any,” read the notice.

The authorities have been asked to reply by Friday.
