Dadri lynching: AAP seeks removal of Mahesh Sharma

Aam Aadmi Party members reacted to the Dadri lynching incident two days after it was reported.

The party has demanded removal of Union Culture Minister Mahesh Sharma for his remarks that the lynching should be seen as an ‘accident’, and alleged that the BJP is behind it.

At a press conference on Thursday, AAP leader Ashutosh termed the incident ‘sinister’ and described it as a ‘conspiracy’ by the BJP to ‘divide the country’.

Claiming that the incident was part of a ploy to polarise society, he said ‘the run-up to the killing clearly shows a design similar to that of the Muzaffarnagar riots that occurred in 2013’.

“Now, the BJP is giving it a political colour while the local BJP MLA is justifying it and calling for a panchayat,” he said, alleging that ‘the BJP and the Samajwadi Party play the game together in Uttar Pradesh’. He said while Prime Minister Narendra Modi projects a certain image of the country in the Silicon Valley in the U.S., such ‘heinous crimes’ were taking place 50 kilometres away from the Capital.
